If you’ve ever been to Texas in the summer, you know that the word ‘hot’ grossly underestimates what it feels like outside. The only remedy to feeling like this poor soul to the left? Jumping into a pool or sticking your head in the freezer.
If you’re traveling to hotter locations this summer, here are some tips you want to keep in mind in order to have a safe, healthy few months!
- Drink plenty of water! This is a given. Regardless of whether you feel thirsty or not, water is the key to staying hydrated and refreshed during warm weather.
- Eat lighter meals. Larger meals require more effort for your body to digest, causing your body to increase its internal heat to aid in this process.
- Wear hats, sunglasses, and SUNSCREEN! All these items can help prevent skin and eye damage. Don’t be shy, reapply!
- Get a good night’s sleep. Fatigue can amplify the effects of heat exposure.
