Formula 1 races attract millions of spectators across the globe. This weekend will be no different. For the second time, the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix makes a “pit” stop just up the road on 1-35 at Circuit of the Americas from November 15th until 17th. The Circuit of The Americas complex is one of the few F1 race tracks in the United States, and Texas is proud to be its home. Of course, everything is bigger in Texas. And when we say ‘big’ we mean ‘huge’! To give you and idea of just how big, check out some of last year’s stats:
- 265,499 people attended the three-day race, making it the second-highest attended F1 Grand Prix of the 2012 season.
- It took 2.2 million pounds of ice to accommodate the needs of F1 USGP race weekend.
- 12,000 pounds of French Fries were served race weekend.
- 32,736 gallons of beer were on hand for race weekend.
No wonder the Formula 1 USGP was named the “Sports Event of the Year” for 2012 by the prestigious SportsBusiness Journal/Daily publication. We have no doubt that this year’s race will be bigger and better than before. More than 300,000 are expected to attend this weekend’s event!
