Today thousands and thousands of people across the nation will march in remembrance of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his never-ending fight for civil equality. San Antonio’s very first march took place in January of 1987. Every year since, the community has gathered in record numbers to march side-by-side to honor the life of this great man.
This year’s theme is “Realizing the Dream: Jobs, Justice and Freedom.” The March starts at 10 a.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy and ends at Pittman-Sullivan Park. The March route consists of approximately 2.5 miles along Martin Luther King Drive.
